it's just so great :)

update: STILL NO LETTER :(

guys. i'm totally getting my life on track and i feel g r e a t about it. me and katie get up every morning and either run, ride the bike, or do the elliptical before class. i am eating better. i have banned myself from facebook till tomorrow after classes. i'm gonna have a rule- no fb till homework is done and no fb after 11:30. i am going to get over this addiction. jordan, katie and i lift weights twice a week. my mind is more focused and my body feels great. i am so proud of us!

things are just going great. aggie basketball is basically my favorite thing in the world. i would marry any of the single men on that team. holla at my boy brian green. this guy proposed to his girlfriend at the game last night. so cute! the spectrum is the one public place i wouldn't mind being proposed at. classes are going well. i met matt's girlfriend and i really liked her. me and matt are on excellent terms and i love being best friends with him. i LOVE my roommate katie. she is my twin. no joke. if i told you all the things you would be shocked.

i am going to florida this weekend to see a night shuttle launch. SO FREAKING EXCITED! the next weekend is st george for the tournament. but i have to miss the coolest thing ever. the 4 girls going to women in aviation were asked to run the usu aviation booth at the hockey game and we were gonna get to ride the zamboni and be on the ice helping with the activities between periods. and i am going to MISS it. upset much? it's basically my life goal to ride a zamboni and this is my opportunity and i can't even be there. then the last weekend is back to florida for women in aviation conference. all expenses covered! and they are buying me a plane ticket.

more on WAI http://www.usu.edu/aviation/index.html or http://www.usu.edu/aviation/womeninaviation2010.html so stinking excited! and i'm on the usu aviation home page! except we're flipping a coin to decide who has to share a room with rachel [girl on far right] cause she's bossy and no one likes her...

he just doesn't know it yet...

so i've decided who i am going to marry, he just doesn't know it yet. i met him last year, he lived a floor below me in our dorm. he's on a mission in south africa. he's gonna be there during the world cup, jealous much? but we have a problem. a major problem. he sent a letter to my house in salt lake! exciting right? well, my mom forwarded it to me. last thursday. AND IT STILL IS NOT HERE. i am freaking out! i need to read his letter. and if usps lost it...someone's gonna get it. i mean really. salt lake and logan are not exactly far away, it should not take this long to get here. but anyway. i'm gonna send him a valentine next week! love it. can't wait till he gets home. pretty close to my birthday in 2011. perfect birthday present? i think so. oh! and his birthday is this month! love it. can't wait till he comes home. he's just the best. it'll be so great. you're all invited to the wedding. i'll keep you updated on the letter.

2009 has come and gone

2009 seems like it flew by. but at the same time last january seems ages ago. i guess i kind of sort memories into school years instead of actual years. cause spring of freshman year and fall of sophomore year seem like two completely seperate years. i have done so many things this year, i can't even believe it. a few of them include:

  • lived in a hotel
  • went to lake powell, sun valley, indianapolis, st george, wendover, vegas, san diego, santa barbara, elko, oakland, san francisco, LA, new orleans, houston
  • got my pilot's license
  • made some new friends and kept some old ones
  • moved into a new dorm room
  • spent lots of time with my family
  • had a boyfriend
  • gone boating and thrown off the tube only a billion times
  • rode motorcycles into the sunset [as well as in the rain]
  • argued with my sisters
  • become better friends with my sisters
  • addicted to tetris [thank goodness for the bet]
  • said goodbye to too many missionaries
  • football soccer basketball
  • watched usu beat byu in basketball
  • discovered a whole new love for hockey
  • been a good friend
  • been a bad friend
  • flew amazing places in my little plane with great friends
  • read a book or two
  • got good grades
  • learned to try and keep some things to yourself
  • went to the air force base
  • learned many things about my grandpa
  • cried
  • laughed

in 2010 i hope to...

  • go on a cruise
  • go on lots of dates
  • learn to be a better person and example
  • not have such a short temper
  • lose weight
  • always be a good friend
  • fly many more places
  • always choose to be happy
  • get a job
  • focus on school
  • travel, travel, travel
  • go out of the country
  • work on my bucket list
  • get my instrument and commercial ratings
  • always smile

my favorite place=the airport

the airport, any airport, any city, is one of the most exciting places. there's so much to do and so much going on around you. it's like a secret underground world. constant flux of arrivals and departures, befores and afters, reunions and breakups, hellos and goodbyes. There's overhead announcements and final boarding calls to exotic destinations. there's parents scolding their kids, people yelling into cell phones, and friends talking about their great trips before boarding the planes that will take them home. everyone has a different story, they've just said goodbye to their girlfriend, boyfriend, mom, dad, grandparents, siblings, children. or they're calling those same people telling them they're on their way home. someone running away, someone returning to loved ones, leaving home for work, moving and having to make a whole new life. the airport has every emotion bottled up into one building. crying, laughter, reminicising, bittersweet. i have spent long hours in airports and the airport is one of the best places to sit and people watch. not only are there millions of emotions, you get all kinds of people and some of the outfits you see are just outrageous! you get the buisness men, the people who just want to be comfy, the people who look like they just rolled out of bed, grunge, snotty. it's fun to sit and watch people and make up stories about them and their life. the airport is just a place of many attractions. i could live there. they have everything i need; airplanes, cinnabons, and you can find good places to sleep! for me the airport is the beginning of the next big adventure. sometimes i go there with no idea of where i'm gonna end up that night. i've gone from new york to la to st george to home in just one day. i've been from orlando to atlanta to washington dc. it's just a huge place full of millions of opportunities. it's an escape from boring, everyday routines. to me it's a place of spontaneity, the next adventure in my life. next time you're there stop and think about the person sitting next to you.

and the airplanes themselves are a totally different story. i feel like a time travel when i'm in airplanes, going from different time zones, you're going in to the future or back into the past. "i've seen the paintings from the air brushed by the hand of God" just one amazing view after another. and it never ceases to amaze me that airplanes can actually fly, that something that big and heavy can fly through the air. and it takes you to something new, something different. it's an escape. you can see clouds [being above them and flying...probably the coolest experience. ever.], amazing sunsets, beaches, city lights, mountains, snow, canyons, rain, rivers, fields and you can get so far in just one day!

at the airport, anything is possible.

cruisin the coast

i had the most amazing fall break! we only had friday off but do to some unplanned weather we missed monday and tuesday as well. :) we took two airplanes, i was sharing hours with matt and tyson was our instructor, and james and mark were in the other plane with tony. i took off out of logan to st george, which was kind of a boring flight other than the fact we saw 3 f16's! landing in sgu is kinda weird too cause it is up on a bluff, but it was a good landing. we ate at in-n-out,of course! then i flew to san diego! such an awesome approach! there was the prettiest sunset and we flew right past the city and all the buildings and right over this parking garage, i felt so close to it! but we landed towards the ocean and i had the best landing! probably the best landing i've ever had! we parked and watched airplanes land for a bit. (side note...small airplanes park at FBO's=flight based operations, where pilots can hang out and flight plan and all that good stuff) we spent the night in san diego hanging out downtown, went to this restaurant called dick's, so weird. haha. it was soo foggy. luckily the fog was gone in the morning, so matt took off to santa barbara which was the coolest flight! we flew right along the coast, over john wayne and and lax. there were planes crusing all around us and we're just so little! matt did a vor approach into sba and we hung out at the fbo there for a while. then i flew into oakland and did an ils approach which is what you do when there are clouds and you can't visibly see the runway, so i was only using instruments until i was right above the runway. good landing there too. oakland is kinda ghetto and due to a series of unfortunate events we ended up eating in okland and having to walk 2 miles home..ha what an adventure. we saw a skunk! freaked me out. haha the hotels are a little cramped, 6 people in one room! my instructor is crazy, just quoted ms swan the entire time! the next day we went into downtown san fran and watcched the sea lions forever and then finally got back to the fbo where we spent a few hours cause there was weather so we couldn't get out...we finally got a hotel and headed to bed. the next day we got up and went back to the fbo and spent a few hours there, the people were so nice, gave me a free delta key chain, made us cookies, and we ate hot chocolate and watched tv. finally we took the courtesy car to the mall and ate lunch and shopped a bit. back to the fbo for a few hours..haha sucky weather. we took the car again and the boys got hair cuts and we went back to san fran and drove across the golden gate bridge and cause this one place we wanted to eat ended up being closed...we ate at a vegan restaurant ha, interesting, but wasn't too bad. we saw the ms doubtfire house! we went back to the hotel and sleppt. next day we got up and finally had good weather and we were able to take off. matt flew to elko nevada, they kept isolating me so they could talk without me hearing and it was making me so mad cause i knew they were talking about me! so frustrating!! the fbo in elko was super nice, and finally we took off to logan where we had an alternator failure over wendover! it was awesome...but we had enough battery to get us to logan. even though we couldn't turn the lights on and had to turn the radios off and yell to each other haha. it seriously was the best weekend! 3 days weekend turned into 5! so great! i had so much fun and the boys are so funny and we just had the best time!

living the life!

you guys i am living the life! haha well kinda...i have my pilot's license! so great. just got the real thing in the mail, it's official!! i flew to wendover with my friend matt and tyson and jeff. we flew out there to see the airshow! flying there was nuts!! a delta md90 flew over the top of us!! and there were 20 planes on final for the wendover airport, so hectic! i landed and 6 planes landed behind me before we cleared the runway. then this last weekend me and matt hopped on a delta flight to lax and ate some yummy in-n-out and flew home! it was soo fun! matt just makes me laugh! we had such a good time. we had to sit at the airport for a while cause we didn't get on the first flight but we managed to make it home! and now this weekend i'm flying usu's planes to california and down the coast with my friends matt, mark and james. funniest guys!! and two instructors are coming. me and matt are going to split the time and mark and james will be in another plane. i'm so excited!! we're going to tahoe and then to oakland and spending the night there. flying to santa monica, john wayne and staying in san diego. then to palm springs and staying in vegas, then flying home through st george and slc! it's gonna be such a blast! can't even wait! hope the weather holds up for us. school is going good, although i have no motivation to do anything recently...so bad. although i am in the library now! be proud. oh! i am a single women! hehe lovin it!! hope everyone is enjoying school and whatnot! love you!! keep smiling!
